Ronillie's Primary Bathroom Reno - Part 1

Some exciting news - I’m working on an interior design business with my neighbor. To start us off, a bathroom renovation. We’re not formally educated in design but I know talent in the visual arts when I see it. When Ronillie invited me into her home for the first time many years ago, I was shocked at her attention to detail in creating a beautiful and comfortable home.

I’m documenting Ronillie’s primary bathroom transformation. Both of us purchased homes that were flipped (purchased, renovated and sold for profit) and we both want to have spaces that reflect our personal styles and honor the age of our mid-century vintage neighborhood roots.

Budget: $15k Labor and materials: $10k

Project Scope:

• Demo
• Replace flooring
• Replace bathtub and shower surround tile
• Clean up existing shower glass and reinstall
• Update vanity hardware and lighting
• Paint
• Add storage

This budget friendly renovation is a refresh of the finishes that were selected upon this home being flipped for resale. It’s a large primary bathroom but similar to many rehabbed properties, the installation was subpar leading to a broken AND unattractive builder-grade home.

Ronillie has selected a fresh and light color palette with some moody accents. There is some concern of subfloor repairs/replacement that will be required but we won’t know until demo has been completed.
